6 Tips to Maintain A Healthy Body Physique

November 30 2017 , Written by Angela Pattridge Published on #health, #wellness, #exercise

Health is a multi-dimensional animal. Exercise, diet, and healthy habits are all part of the bigger picture when it comes to holistic wellness. A healthy body, mind, and spirit make up a healthy person. While it may be easy to compartmentalize health into a neat, organized list, people are typically more complex than that. The following six tips take into account the interdependent facets of health and wellness.

1. Eat Different Colors

Fruits and vegetables are typically the most colorful foods on the table, and they’re full of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Stay away from bland white or brown food when possible, and indulge in bright colors. The nutrients contained in produce can help boost the immune system and keep eyes, ears, and skin healthy. Minerals also help the body prevent against conditions like heart disease and cancer. If you don’t have time to meal prep with veggies, a healthy food delivery service can take all of the work out of the process and deliver meals to you regularly.

2. Drink More Water

The body needs water for just about every function. Water cleanses and helps the brain function most efficiently. It hydrates skin and muscles, and helps them to recover after workouts. Flushing the system with water also prevents against water weight gain and keeps the digestive system functioning consistently to maintain comfort. At least sixty four ounces of water are recommended each day. If you work out regularly, you should drink even more than that.

3. Take Care of Your Brain

Mental health is severely neglected in today’s society. Figure out what you need from day to day in terms of stress relief and emotional care. Find outlets that resonate with you, like drawing, music, yoga, cooking, or any other kind of hobby that just plain makes you happy. Make time for whatever your outlet is; there are no excuses. Preserving mental and emotional health is half the battle of maintaining physical health.

4. Get Moving

However you do your cardio, do it regularly. You can walk, run, jog, dance, do yoga, ski, or anything else that gets your heart pumping. Aerobic exercise burns fat and maintains heart health so that the body can continue to function well.

5. Pick Things Up and Put Them Down

Anaerobic exercise like weight lifting strengthens muscles around joints to increase stability and balance. Functional strength helps people stay independent as they age and preserves dignity. You aren’t going to get huge from playing with dumbbells a few times per week. Body weight exercises are also great for strengthening muscles.

6. Go to Sleep

Getting enough rest each night is instrumental to being a functional adult the next day. Even if you’re staying awake to work on productive projects, your brain is missing out on its eight hours and it will remind you of the loss the following day or week, depending on how long it takes to catch up to you. Supplementing with caffeine is a bandage, but it won’t replace valuable REM sleep. Make sure you allow yourself enough time for dreaming good things. Your life will benefit in a big way; most mental health issues correlate with not getting enough shut eye.

Taking the time to practice these six tips will greatly improve and maintain a level of good health and wellness. Ensuring that your diet, self-care, exercise routine, and sleep cycle all line up to benefit you as largely as possible helps your odds of wellness enormously. You only have one lifetime; utilize these tools to live it to the best of your ability, and spread the knowledge around.
